The Prez Says

Hello to all our fellow square dancers We seem to be having great turn-outs for our dances so far this year, and we hope that trend continues.  Our most recent dance was Lake Shore Squares Graduation Dance.  We had over 110 people in attendance that night, and welcomed 12 new Graduates into our ranks.  We are proud to have then join us, and look forward to many more years of enjoying their company.

Also at our previous dance,  Shirley Wilson started having FREE Cha-Cha classes that will continue on before each of our regular dances.  We had about 40 people show up for classes each night so far.  Nice to see such a large group coming early for the fun, and instructions. It sure is a lot of fun.  It will continue on for several more weeks.  Please come and join us.  Classes begin at 7:00 pm and go until almost 8:00 pm.  This replaced our normal ’early rounds’ for the near future.  We hope many people will take advantage of these free classes, and folks will come Cha-Cha with us.

Our next dance on March 6th we will have our Wearing O’ the Green St. Paddy’s Dance  Ken Perkins will be calling, with Shirley Wilson cueing. SO get out your green, and come join us for a night of fun and excitement.

It’s coming up quickly, so I want to take a minute to make sure everyone knows about our Anniversary Dance we are having on March 20th.  We’ll be celebrating 46 wonderful years as a club. I want to personally invite all the members from our sister clubs, and especially want to invite everyone who is a member, or has ever been a member of Lake Shore Squares to please attend that night.  We understand that we are one of the oldest clubs in the state, and are proud of that fact.  It is hard to keep something going for this long without the work and effort of a lot of people over these many years.  We want to show our appreciation, and hope to have a big crowd in attendance.  Ken Perkins will be calling, and I’m sure he’ll have something up his sleeve.

I also want to make everyone aware we will be collecting items to send to all our brave soldiers stationed over seas.  We’ll have a benefit dance for that a few months from now, and admission for that dance will be items for our troops.
I wanted to make everyone aware so you could be on the look-out for needed items and get them when you saw a sale.  Down below I am going to provide a list below to give people some idea of the many items needed for our troops.  If we all can starting saving items now,.. we should be able to have a nice collection to show our troops just how much we appreciate their sacrifices.

Please get out and dance.  Square dancers are some of the finest people we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.  It is an honor to know all of you.  We hope you’ll come and visit us soon and often.
